The Avalon A1466 pushes 170 TH/s, making it one of the denser options we have tested in sub-metre aisles. Canaan’s side-intake design changes how rows must face in a warehouse block.

Side Intake Consideration

Unlike rear-exhaust Antminers, the A1466 pulls air from the left panel. In a cold-aisle/hot-aisle layout, all units in a row must face the same direction so intakes align with the cold aisle. Reversing one unit in a bay creates a local hot spot that raised chip temps 11°C in our test.

Rack Density

Seven units fit in a 42U bay at 180 mm depth with 15 mm spacer brackets. Total bay load: 22.7 kW. Requires a dedicated 50 A breaker per bay on 380 V three-phase.

Warehouse Fit

Best suited for purpose-built facilities where aisle orientation was planned before equipment selection. Retrofitting into an existing Antminer row required rotating entire bays — a costly surprise for one operator we consulted in Pohang.

Verdict

Excellent joules-per-terahash if your warehouse was designed for side-intake units. Confirm intake direction on every pallet before unboxing.
