Containment Panel Options for Low-Ceiling Warehouses
Ceiling height kills more mining warehouse plans than power contracts. When the lease says 3.2 m and the cable tray sits at 2.9 m, full hot-aisle containment is often impossible without relocating infrastructure.
Soft Panels
Vinyl strip curtains between rack tops and ceiling are the cheapest option. They work when exhaust heat rises cleanly and the gap above racks is at least 400 mm. In summer, we see 3–4°C intake rise compared to rigid containment because panels billow into the cold aisle.
Rigid Panels to Rack Top Only
Polycarbonate panels from rack top to 2.5 m leave the upper volume open. Heat collects near the ceiling but does not recirculate into intakes if the ceiling is above 3.2 m. This is our default recommendation for Korean warehouses built before 2010.
Partial End Caps
Sealing only the hot-aisle ends (where rows terminate) captures 60% of the containment benefit at 30% of the material cost. Pair with inline fans at the hot-aisle exit pulling air to roof vents.
What We Avoid
Fully enclosed hot aisles below 3.0 m ceiling without mechanical exhaust. Static heat layers form above the racks and slowly heat the cold aisle through conduction on metal rack frames.
